How to get directory listing

Up until recently, the only way that I know to get the listing of files in a particular directory is by using the command in DOS command prompt. For example, type:

dir > list.txt

will generate a list of files in a particular folder and stored them in a text file called “list.txt”.

I found a little programme called Dir 2 File that is capable to generate directory listing in various format – HTML, plain text, CSV or Excel. I downloaded the programme, installed it and tried it out. However, it does not work. When browsing for the directory that I want, an error appears as per the screenshot below.

Got tired of uninstall and re-install, I removed the programme entirely. I guess I will continue using the command prompt way.
