Google Adsense not appearing

google_adsense_logo.jpgFor the past few weeks, my Google ads are not appearing on my notebook. Both IE7 and Firefox 2.0 that I have are not displaying them. I’ve tried everything that I know and everything that I found on the internet. Some people suggested to check for the windows hosts file to see whether there’s any entry or references to adwords, googlesyndication. I did this but the problem still there.

This morning, I tried accessing my website from my wife’s notebook and to my surprise, the ads were there. Tested on both IE7 and Firefox 2.0 on her notebook – both are okay.

How was it fixed? Keep on reading.

Now, while looking at the hosts file earlier, I made some cleanup on that file, and when I saved the hosts file, my Kaspersky 6.0 gave a Proactive Defense Warning that the hosts file has been modified. Damn,….why I never thought of this before… Kaspersky is actually blocking those ads.

In the Kaspersky Anti-Banner setting(see image below), you will see that there’s an entry for googlesyndication. I thought this could be it. However, un-checking this setting did not help. Apparently, there are many more entries that could may well block the Google Adsense. For example, */ads/*, *ads2*, etc.

A simpler solution is by adding *googlesyndication.com* in the White List. Once this done, refresh my browser and voila… all ads are now can be seen on my notebook.

Thanks for this post. I just noticed the same thing was happening on my blog and thought it might be Kaspersky related.
