Upgrading to WordPress 2.5 – the outcome

This is my first post after the upgrading process. I did not upgrade manually. Instead, I found a plugin that can actually upgrade to WordPress 2.5 in a single click… yes. The plugin is called InstantUpgrade. The plugin upgrades your WordPress version in less than 1 minute.

What does it do?

When you run the plugin, it does these things for you:

  1. Download latest WordPress files from wordpress.org
  2. Unpack (unzip) the files at your server
  3. Delete all of your old files (except of course the contents of your /wp-contents/ folder and your wp-config.php file)
  4. Copy the unpacked files directly into your wordpress directory
  5. Run the database upgrade script

All these in less than a minute.

Problem I encountered

When you first run the plugin, it asks you the method (HTTP or FTP) that it needs to use for replacing your files. Initially, I chose FTP. However, I encountered a problem; it seems that it failed to access one of the directory. After trying a few times, and failed, I change to HTTP method. And it was okay all the way through.

Other than that, no other problems.

I am now writing this post in the latest version of WordPress.
