WordPress 2.6 review
Having upgraded my WordPress from 2.5 to 2.6 yesterday, it is now time for a review. Below are some of the new things that I’ve discovered after playing around with the new version of WordPress for a couple of hours yesterday.
Image
The new version now allows you to insert image caption, as displayed below.
This can be done while inserting the image itself. But one thing I noticed is that, eventhough I can set the caption font to be Bold or Italic, when I publish the post, those caption settings were gone. i.e. it became normal font again.
There are also a few other enhancement in the image department – easier to insert, resize, etc.
Plugin
A noticeable feature with regards to Plugin is the bubble notification of the number of plugins that are activated. Not much of a feature I think, but, it looks nice.
The plugin page is also given a revamped. In particular, all your plugins are now segregated into 3 sections – Currently Active Plugins, Recently Active Plugins and Inactive Plugins. I thought that this move is really useful. The Recently Active Plugins section displays your plugins that were inactive for the past seven days, after which, they will be moved to the Inactive Plugins section. This is good. For example, if you accidentally deactivate a plugin, you can quickly refer to this section to see the plugin that you recently deactivate.
Thank you.
