WordPress 2.6 review

Having upgraded my WordPress from 2.5 to 2.6 yesterday, it is now time for a review. Below are some of the new things that I’ve discovered after playing around with the new version of WordPress for a couple of hours yesterday.

Upgrade to WordPress 2.6

Almost a month after WordPress 2.6 was released, I finally managed to get myself to upgrade. For this upgrade, I used a plugin from Zirona. It handles the upgrade automatically, and the whole upgrading process was over in less than 10 seconds. I did not have to download the upgrade files, and ftp them back to my server…. all was done by the plugin.

Firefox 3.0 will be released on June 17th, 2008

Mozilla has announced that the new Firefox 3.0 will be released on the 17th of June 2008. News can be read here, here orhere. I will definitely download that release and really looking forward to that date. I have been trying the release candidate 1 for a month now and can proudly say that I like it. The speed is terrific and noticable. The new “smart location bar” is immensely useful.

Mozilla launches Firefox 3 RC 1

Mozilla Corp on May 16, 2008 launches Firefox 3 Release Candidate 1. It is promised to be more secure, easier to use and more personal over its predecessor.

In its official website, Mozilla lists down a bunch of “what’s new” in Firefox 3. From the list, I am more interested and looking forward to the followings:

Firefox Add-ons – tab effect

This is by far, the most excellent piece of add-on that I have on my Firefox. Terrific… What it does is that it gives a visual effect when you switch between your Firefox tabs.

WordPress 2.5 – testing it out

A couple of minutes ago, I wrote my first post in WordPress 2.5 using Internet Explorer 6.0 and I did not have any problem with image. Now, for this post, I’m using Firefox.

And the first thing that I discovered was that, the image editing pop-up dialog box is not working. When I select an image and click the Image edit icon, the pop-up dialog box appeared with blank content. I was okay in IE6.

Upgrading to WordPress 2.5 – the outcome

This is my first post after the upgrading process. I did not upgrade manually. Instead, I found a plugin that can actually upgrade to WordPress 2.5 in a single click… yes. The plugin is called InstantUpgrade. The plugin upgrades your WordPress version in less than 1 minute.
